Nursing clinics run daily. These clinics are predominantly for long term conditions/chronic disease reviews, e.g. asthma reviews, diabetic checks, etc., and for vaccinations.

If you would like to stop smoking, need advice on losing weight, or would like information on diet, exercise or alcohol please book an appointment with the HCA.

Long Term Conditions

The practice nurses review most long term conditions where the patient is stable, more complicated cases are referred to the GPs for assessment and appropriate action.

If you have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions please come and see our nurse who will be able to offer advice and help:

New mums should also make an appointment with the doctor around about this time for their own check-up.

Further details about immunisations can be obtained by clicking here.

Blood Tests

Our healthcare assistant is a qualified phlebotomist and we are able to offer blood tests at the practice for some of our patients - please speak to Reception for details.  Appointments are available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Travel Health

Patients should get advice from our nurse on travel health - it is advisable to do this before actually bookelderley_BP_checking a holiday. Some holiday vaccinations are required up to six weeks before you travel.  Please complete a vaccination questionnaire with as much information as possible (available from reception or download one from the above tab) and return it to the practice.  The nurse will then assess what vaccinations are required and reception will contact you to arrange your first appointment at which you will be given the relevant vaccinations.  Most patients will only need one appointment but if you are back packing or a frequent traveller/long stay traveller then you may need subsequent appointments.

NHS Health Checks

Free NHS health checks are available to adults aged between 40 and 74. These are provided by our clinical team in 2 stages-

At the first appointment the HCA or practice nurse will ask questions about your lifestyle, record height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate and conduct a simple fasting blood test to check cholesterol levels.

At the second appointment with the GP, these results are then discussed & relevant information and support for maintaining a healthy lifestyle will be available.
